Don't stop believing in your teaching abilities when you are having a rough day. Sometimes we do that. But don't. You are getting better every day! TM : )
Please remember this... small increments, a little bit at a time, little steps, or baby steps. Okay, so you're wondering what's the point Tracy? My point (note to self), is when we teach our children, just because we have this BIG plan or project for them, we need to remind them (and ourselves) to take it a little at a time. Sometimes as teachers/parents we have this vision of grandeur when it comes to projects and or assignments and a timeline just as grand to finish. But really, we need to remember not to intimidate our kids. We want them to succeed, not feel defeated. So take your time and do it in small, but manageable increments. And remember (note to self again), it starts with just one step (baby steps) to climb to the top of the mountain. TM : )
Remember... there is more than one way to teach a child. There is more than one style of learning. Just because it worked on "that" day, doesn't mean it will be the same the next time you try it. Boy, I can see why we can get so frustrated! Be creative. Have fun, and don't forget, there's school, and then there is learning. And learning should be fun. TM : )
You're the best! I knew you could do it! Good job, you did it! I'm so proud of you! Use these words often, not just for your children, but for yourself as well. TM : )
To keep the homeschool community a close one, remember to say "hi" to a new face and introduce yourself. Making others feel welcome is the first step to making a community that already feels like home to you, a place for the new homeschooling families to call home for them as well. TM : )
When you are feeling overwhelmed and not sure that you are doing anything right, REMEMBER why you started homeschooling to begin with. Stop comparing yourself to what others are doing and how much they are doing. Unlike public schools, homeschooling our children gives us the advantage to focus on one subject at a time and really learn it. So stop feeling like you haven't done enough. Be proud of yourself for all the accomplishments you and your child have completed. Now that you got your memory back, know that you have done everything exactly right. TM : )
Flexibility in homeschool does not always refer to your schedule. There is flexibility in what you teach, and how you teach it. Just because the directions say, "Add 1 cup of sugar", does that mean we have to? What if I use a 1/2 cup of sugar instead? Does that mean the recipe won't come out right? Or does that mean I made it especially for me? Thoughts to think about. TM : )
“You don’t have to do every page of every book.” TM : )
